Responsibilities

What You’ll Do

 

The Manager, Trust and Estates is responsible for planning, organizing and overseeing all aspects of team operations, including personnel, process and resource management within the Residuals Trust and Estates Department.  This role ensures the integrity and efficiency of all processes related to performer residuals. Acting as the department’s day-to-day leader, the Manager supports strategic planning initiatives and adopts new processes and technologies to enhance service delivery. Additionally, the Manager assumes operational responsibilities during the Director’s absence.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Operational Management:

  • Lead and optimize processes relating to Stop Payment Desk, Deposit Desk, Address Update Desk and Direct Deposit Desk.
  • Implement improvements to streamline operations and enhance efficiency.

 

Team Leadership & Development:

  • Manage, train, mentor, and develop direct reports, including represented union employees across various levels.
  • In conjunction with the Director, interview, select and hire candidates
  • Foster a positive work environment by focusing on team morale, coaching, and continuous development.
  • In conjunction with the Director, complete performance reviews for team members.

 

Process Improvement:

  • Review, document, and update department functions and processes to facilitate training, retraining, and continuous improvement.
  • Identify opportunities for process enhancements and implement changes to optimize performance.

 

Stakeholder Communication & Issue Resolution:

  • Act as a point of contact for performer concerns, proactively seeking solutions to their concerns.
  • Maintain regular communication with the senior management team regarding department progress, workflow delays, and performer or departmental issues.

 

Vendor & External Relations Management:

  • Oversee relationships with external vendors, as needed.
  • Coordinate with studios and payroll houses to ensure timely provision of necessary data to meet departmental goals.

 

Additional Duties:

  • Perform other duties as assigned, adapting to evolving business needs and requirements.

 

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

Leadership & Management:

  • Proven experience successfully managing teams of 10 or more, including roles with supervisory or managerial responsibilities.
  • Strong leadership, coaching, and mentoring skills to motivate staff at various levels.
  • Ability to implement staffing changes to align with department goals.
  • Excellent Communication & Interpersonal Skills
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills across all levels, from clerical to executive.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to build collaborative relationships internally and externally.
  • Capable of gaining consensus among peers, direct, and indirect reports.

 

Process & Workflow Management:

  • Expertise in managing complex workflows, with a focus on delivering excellent member service.
  • Strong analytical skills to assess situations, identify trends, and recommend proactive solutions.

 

Technical Proficiency:

  • Competence in high volume processing systems and experience collaborating with IT for system improvements.
  • Proficient in PC applications, including G-Suite, Word, and Excel.

 

Organizational & Problem-Solving Skills:

  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of multitasking under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks effectively and work under pressure.

 

Flexibility & Availability:

  • Must maintain regular attendance and be available for overtime, extended hours, weekends, and holidays as required.
  • Willingness to travel as needed to meet business demands.

 

 

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and/or Experience:

  • Undergraduate degree and/or 5+ years relevant work experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Minimum 5 years experience managing staff and overseeing workflows.
  • Minimum 5 years  customer service experience required.

Preferred:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience or knowledge in residuals processing 
  • Entertainment industry experience in distribution and/or business affairs
  • Comprehensive knowledge of motion picture and/or television distribution business environment 
  • Previous work experience in a financial services or trust or royalties and residuals administration
